1886-1976Sera siempre recordado como el director de Rebe lion a bordo (Mutiny on the Bounty, 1935), interpretada por Clark Gable y Charles Laughton, que consiguio el Oscar a la Mejor Pelicula. Ya en el sonoro, su filmografia no fue demasiado extensa, aunque logro exitos importantes con algunos de sus filmes, por ejemplo, Historia de dos ciudades (A Tale of Two Cities, 1935), Saratoga (Saratoga, 1937), o Un yanqui en Oxford (A Yank at Oxford, 1938). Entre ellos, dos westerns de cierto fuste, el primero de ellos dirigido parcialmente por Howard Hawks, en el que tambien intervino, al parecer, William A. Wellman.Viva Villa! (.Viva Villa!)
